April Meeting Recap

Hi Guys!!! My apologies for the severe lateness of this – but hey, I’m sneaking it in just before the next meeting. 😀

There were 19 people in attendance at April’s meeting. Two winners were drawn for completing the BOM (Greek Cross blocks, shown above) – Congratulations Marilyn and Lori!

Congratulations also go to Diane for winning the Snowball blocks, and to Kathy for winning a prize just for wearing a name tag! Yay!

The next BOM block is the Mosaic Block. It’s made with half square triangles, and if anyone is having trouble with it, feel free to email me at runamokmqg@gmail.com and I can help you out. Or bring your fabric to our meeting this Saturday and I can help you. Both the Mosaic Block and June’s block (Flower Garden Path) will be “due” at June’s meeting, the 27th.  So don’t worry if you haven’t finished the block yet. 😀

The instructions for Carol’s block in May have been emailed out (shown below). Please let me know if you didn’t receive the email, and I’ll forward it to you. We’ll see about getting June’s block actually posted on the blog this time.

June marks our one year anniversary and there will be a party to celebrate. Watch for coming details through email and the blog!

Now for show and tell!!!

Kathy attended MQX in Manchester and took a class with Sew Kind of Wonderful. She created a table runner with the Urban Winter pattern using spring colors. She long arm quilted it and used double the batting.

Pat made a muslin sample of a shirt she dubbed “The Hillary”. She also presented three snow dyed fabrics. She used Kona cotton and dyes from Pro Chemical.
Sue brought in four blocks she made with half square triangles with a grey and yellow colorway. She will be making a quilt for her sister in Florida.
DSCF3064Lindell made two appliqued pillows with zippers. The bird pillow was from an applique kit she purchased at a quilt show.

Cheryl made a foot stool cover using one of the blocks from the Summer Sampler Series.

Meg (a new member) is working on a hot dog pillowcase and was seeking advice on this technique.
DSCF3057Marie (another new member) presented a quilt top that will be for a three-year-old girl who loves animals.

DSCF3059Sandie brought in a completed Eye Spy quilt top for her great nephew. She uses freezer paper to add the Eye Spy poem to the back of the quilt.

Hope I get to see everyone at our meeting, this Saturday, May 23rd. It will be an all-day event so bring some projects to work on!!!!
