The Franklin Mill Store (our wonderful hosts every month) have offered us an amazing opportunity. There will be space set aside for us to display quilts, on a monthly rotating basis. To try and give us a little structure, and prevent as many problems in the future as we can, Jennifer and I have come up with the following guidelines.
3 quilts from the guild will be shown each month. There is absolutely no judgement process on your quilts. They can be anything at all you’re willing to part with for a month – old, new, modern, traditional, applique, pieced – anything at all.
We’re asking that you wait 4 months between quilt displays. This will allow everyone to participate without one or two members monopolizing the space. This means if you display a quilt in January, please wait till May to sign up to display another. However, if we don’t receive enough sign ups, this may change.
To sign up, please email your name, the name of your quilt, the pattern used, and a brief description to email@example.com. This information will all be printed on a card designed by the lovely Megan and pinned to the front of your quilt so everyone knows who did the great work. Also, please include a rough size of your quilt — even just saying wall, twin, queen etc will be helpful in the planning.
I think the easiest way to drop off quilts would be at guild meetings, then pick up at the meeting after. So for December, you would drop off at the November meeting, then pick up at the January meeting. However, if that doesn’t work with you, let me know. I’ll put you in touch with our Gallery Coordinator Lindell and/or Maureen, and you can all work something out. Both are employees of the Franklin Mill, so I’m sure it will be easy to find convenient times for all involved.
Sign ups will be on a first come first serve basis and can happen at any point during the year, so you don’t have to make a commitment now for next October. The first month we’ll be doing this is December, so if you’ve got a quilt lying around, let’s hang it up for people to admire!
