June Meeting Recap

Hi Everyone!!!

A few weeks ago we had our June meeting — the first regular meeting! We had 12 people attend, which I feel is phenomenal considering it was the weekend before July 4th.

Everyone brought their first (or oldest, if first wasn’t available) and their latest, and talked a bit about they started in quilting. It was really fantastic to see all the different backgrounds we have.

There was talk of doing a guild challenge/event to coincide with the Row-by-Row experience. If you are interested, collect the row instructions at participating fabric stores. Work on them at your leisure — no need to be the first done here! At the November meeting, bring your completed top (does NOT need to be quilted), and we’ll have a vote for guild favorite. I’ll work on getting some sort of prize together, and let you know what it is as soon as I do. Amy from During Quiet Time has offered winner’s choice of three of her patterns! (and if you’re worried you can’t paper piece – don’t worry! Its on our list of scheduled demos.)

Our next meeting will be July 26th, 10am – 12pm at the Franklin Mill Store. Please remember that this is an upstairs space, and while we’ll try to make it as cool as possible, it can get warm. But there will be cold water available! And the space is handicap accessible, but let me know ahead of time so we can make sure the route is clear.

We’re going to do a bit of a fun ‘get-to-know-you’ kind of activity. Please bring a fat quarter or large-ish scrap that represents you. We will drop them all in a bag and each choose one. Then, the fun begins as you get to go talk to everyone and find out who’s fabric that is!

Also, if you have not done your first and last presentation, feel free to bring them to the next meeting you attend. Other than that we will have show and tell as normal. So bring whatever you’ve been working on lately that you’d like to show off!

Now for the pictures! There’s a lot of them, and I, of course, forgot to write down too many details. On the bright side, that gives more fodder for discussions!   I just hope I got all the names right…
